Okinawa Beach Livin'

To integrate with the team I'd be heading overseas with and prepare for our team together, I went to Okinawa for a couple of weeks.  We spent a lot of time working, and as we were still in typhoon season the weather wasn't the greatest, but I got to get out a little bit and see some of the island.

A panorama of a secluded beach we went to.  Generally, the Japanese don't do the beach thing exactly the same as we do.  They do surf and SCUBA dive, though, and there was lots of that to do on the island.

A tomb in a random spot on top of a hill.  We would see these in several random spots.

A view of the beach from on top of the tombs.  The surf was a bit rough for my mediocre surfing skills, but I did do some awesome snorkeling around the reef just off shore.

We took in a bit of a baseball game.  There weren't many spectators at the game, but those who were there were dedicated.  The collection in the stands farthest into left field were actually a band.  It was kind of like an international soccer cheering stand, or a college football game - lots of choreographed cheers to music the band would play.

It was a shame I didn't get to get out and see more of Okinawa - it was beautiful.  It would be great to get a chance to see more of the island some time.
