In to Andover

Unfortunately, I'm still unable to post any pictures, but we've made it to Andover, Maine - about 30 miles away from the Maine/New Hampshire border. The last few days have seen us on our biggest climbs, as we approach the White Mountains. Yesterday was a 12.8 mile day, with a little over 4,000 feet of elevation gain and about 3,400 feet of elevation loss. Pretty big day. The weather has been off and on, some days raining some days enough sun to let us dry out. Hopefully as we approach the Whites, where much of the hiking is above treeline, it'll clear out a little bit and afford us some good views of what we're hiking through.

Into the Biggun's

Not much time to post, but we've made it as far as Stratton. The next 100 miles or so should be our toughest stretches, as we head into the mountains of Southern Maine and New Hampshire. After a rainy beginning, we've had amazing weather for the last week or so, hopefully to continue. Lots of pictures have been taken - hopefully we'll be able to post some soon.

They're Off

With Christian and Priya heading to Mt. Katahdin today to begin the AT, I have joined this blog to update everyone on their progress.

If you wish to send Christian and Priya care packages that they can pick up along the way, please email me me or write me a note letting me know; this way we can avoid multiple packages arriving in one town.

Below are the post offices that they will be stopping at within the first month. Please keep in mind that the itinerary is approximate and will change:

Campsite; Mile Marker; Approx. Arrival; Mail Drop Address

Monson; 2061.7; 7/13/2009; Monson, ME 04464

Kinsman; 1798.7; 8/2/2009; North Woodstock, NH 03262

If you meet up with these two along the Trail and have stories, updates, or photos, please send them my way so we can update the blog.
