Institute
In March I took a trip with the Alaska Alpine Club to attempt to summit Institute Mountain, in the Delta Range. Though my team didn't summit successfully, it was my first experience with deep, fresh powder, and it was awesome. Plus, the scenery was gorgeous.
View of Institute as we were approaching our base camp.
The rope team about halfway up the climb.
Eating lunch overlooking the Castner Glacier.
Delta Range stretching east.
The view before I took the plunge down. In 2000 feet, I think I fell about twenty times. It was awesome.
Derick on the ski down.
Clouds at sunset.
